UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER

Strategy and training

"Over the last few years, Chrissi has been working with the Advanced Biomedical Materials Centre for Doctoral Training (ABM CDT) at the University of Manchester to develop our equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy. She has put together a comprehensive package of initiatives that are closely aligned with the University’s goals and has worked with us to implement them in the most efficient way possible with the resources we have available. This has included innovative schemes such as PhD student-led EDI projects and PhD student and supervisor training covering the fundamental principles of inclusion, trust, inequality and power as well as sessions focused on specific protected characteristics. Our students really value what they have learnt and our supervisors have reported that they have taken much more away from Chrissi’s training sessions than they have from previous University EDI training. Chrissi’s work has been a real game-changer for the way EDI is approached in academia and has allowed us to enhance the working culture within the CDT and create an inclusive environment for our staff and students to work and study. This approach has been making waves within the University and has started to be taken on in other CDTs across the Faculty. Chrissi has been a joy to work with, and I cannot commend her work highly enough!

BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL

Training for operatives

Chrissi delivered high-quality, bespoke training for our repairs and planned maintenance workforce. Chrissi is very professional to work with, and we have been impressed with the way Chrissi has engaged with colleagues. The feedback from our operatives on the training Chrissi delivered has been very positive. Wider than the training, it has been great to benefit from Chrissi’s expertise in inclusion in the construction sector – I think this expertise has been vital to gaining the buy-in from our colleagues. Chrissi has worked with us to develop materials that will support further embedding the key messages from the training. It has been an insightful experience working with Chrissi and we recommend Chrissi highly to others looking to grow an inclusive, open culture in their organisations.
